The ephemeral lifestyle of Marianina rosea makes the survival of this species particularly susceptible to seasonal events that can affect the dispersal of food sources and potential mates. Their short lifespan means that M. rosea invests all of its energy into finding a suitable mate for reproduction and relies heavily on the abundance of food sources (Marshall & Willan, 1999. Reported findings of M. rosea on Heron Island vary from year to year as they can either be found in abundance or not located at all. The rarity and unpredictable lifestyle of M. rosea means that extensive research is still required in order to completely understand all aspects of this animals lifestyle.
