Sarcophytonehrenbergi can be found from intertidal to deeper waters with varying environments from clearer to more turbid waters (Fabricius & Alderslade, 2001). They can be found near the Red Sea and Indo-Pacific regions, such as The Great Barrier Reef, New Caledonia, Phillippines, India (South Andaman), Madagascar, and Seychelles (Rao & Devi, 2003).
