COMPREHENSIVE DESCRIPTION

H. edulis is a very soft skinned echinoderm that has a pink underside and is black to grey on top. It has an elongate body shape and can reach sizes up to 35cm. When handled, their body texture can range from highly rigid to very soft, due to the presence of highly mutable connective tissue, which allows for a high degree of control on the rigidity of body tissues. Tube feet are externally present but can retract back into the cavity and are often seen as small nodules on the exterior surface.
