Micrographs of blood cells from H&E stained heart section of Pyura stolonifera observed in 100X magnification. Hematoxylin (H) stains nucleic acids purple-blue and eosin (E) stains proteins nonspecifically in the cytoplasm pink or red (Fischer et al., 2008). Four cell types that were identified as vacuolated blood cells were observed: (A) morula cell; (B) compartment cell; (C) bivacuolated cell; (D) signet ring cell. Arrow head indicates cell.
