Two colonies of Botrylloides leachii interacting and forming a bi-partner chimera along their growing edges. (a) Ampullae of two colonies (1 & 2) are seen interacting and the arrows denote the region of contact. Colonies in contact often extend their ampullae towards each other to initiate an interaction. (b-c) The ampullar tips of the opposing colonies are interacting. (d) Megaloampulllae (M) are visible in one of the colonies.
