Biogeographic Distribution
E. quadricolor has a wide global distribution, inhabiting waters across the Central Western Indo-Pacific , Indo-west Pacific, Red Sea and the South eastern Indian Ocean (according to the Wold Register of Marine Species). As of 1997, this species existed in high abundance at its southern limit, Beacon Island (28’ 30⁰ S) and at the northern most tip of its range in water of Japan (Richardson et al 1997). Populations along Australia’s east coast including those at Kebble Island, Solitary Island and Heron Island have been the focus of scientific study. |
