Evolution & Systematics

Favia are on the phyla Cnidaria, class Anthozoa. They are in the same sub class as anemones the Hexacorallia. But they are hard corals so they are in the order Scleractnia. They are on the family Faviidae. There are at least 25 species in the genus Favia (Veron 2000).
