Human Use

Strombidae have been used intensively as a source of food and bait for fishing in various parts of the world, particularly the Caribbean and Africa. Their aesthetic qualities also put them among the more popular shells collected for decorative purposes, next to the shiny cowries (Cypraeidae) (Kreipl & Poppe 1999).
