Biogeographic distribution 

The Pyrazus ebeninus are localized to estuarine mudflats and mangrove swamps. As the species is endemic to Australia, it is typically found along the eastern coast of Australia. (Ozawa et al. 2009) The species is also considered to have been found in Tasmania based on sub fossil evidence found of P. ebeninus shells on northwest beaches (Fig. 1; Groves 2011).
