According to Sea Life Base, the maximum length that
A. gemmata can obtain is
12.0cm.(16) The same species
is present on Heron Island and
lengths were seen up to 14.0cm (Athousis 2011, unpublished work).
The family (Chitonidae) that
A. gemmata belongs to are
known to have lengths up to
20.0cm long (3), therefore it
is most likely that the maximum
length of A. gemmata is
longer than what is recorded
by Sea Life Base and from
the study that was conducted
on Heron Island.
