Acanthopleura gemmata is similar to Acanthopleura brevispinosa, but has shorter spicules and a brown girdle (Figure 1).(12) It also has lighter bands. (12) A. gemmata is found on the upper littoral zone, usually on rocks and cliffs found within the Indo-Pacific.(12)
