Local Distribution and Habitats

This species was found among coral rubble along a rock platform on the southern side of Heron Island. The species was only found in the intertidal zone, with no specimens being located under boulders in the sub tidal reef flat. Additionally searches of the intertidal area on the reef crest failed to locate any specimens. All individuals were located in a narrow band close to the shore. During low tides the species may be left out of water for over 5 hours at a time. During these periods animals were found exclusively on the underside of boulders; however it is likely that by night, and possibly during daytime high tides, the species would move around elsewhere in this environment.
