Colour Change
Like most crustaceans colouration is controlled by colour pigments in tiny little cells found underneath the shell ,called chromatophores (Montgomery 2010). The final colour of the prawn depends on the proportion of pigments in each chromatophores, as well as the arrangement of said cells over the body of the prawn. Colouration can change with a range of Biotic and Abiotic factors eg. size , time of day, temperature , light levels and the like.
