Brief Summary
The Eastern King Prawn, Penaeus (melicertus) plebejus is a member of the Penaeidae family of prawns. The Eastern King features a transparent or cream to yellow body, blue to red tail fan and is characterized by a single rostral tooth on the lower side of the rostrum near the point. Eastern Kings utilize a range of different habitats through out their life cycle. They are distributed along the east coast of Australia and are incredibly important in the Australian commercial trawling industry.
