L. laevigata is a sea star species that associates with coral
reefs. It is commonly found in abundant number on the reef flats
(Williams & Benzie 1998). This species also occur in lagoons, reef
crests, coral rubble banks, and algal ridges (Laxton 1974; Thompson
& Thompson 1982).
