It is very difficult to identify polychaetes to genus or species without a microscope. For field identification, general field guides such as “A coral reef handbook” or “Field guide to Moreton bay” can identify this species to family. A coral reef handbook identifies this organism to species but it was written at Heron Island specifically for Heron Island. Because of this, it is likely that different reefs will have different species, which have potentially not been identified yet.
