Local Distribution and Habitats
B. schlosseri was first recorded in Australia in 1928 and now has a widespread distribution ranging from the Great Barrier Reef in northern Queensland to Tasmania (Carver et al. 2006). Colonies are found attached to both natural and artificial structures from shallow subtidal habitats to roughly 200 meter depths (NIMPIS 2011). On Heron Island colonies were commonly found on the underside of coral fragments, in shallow intertidal pools of the reef crest. |
