Specimens of Philinopsis Pilsbryi are usually find in the sand, in sandy bottom seaward reef surge channels at depths of 10 to 20 meters. The three specimens collected were find on lagoon sand and rubble flats at 6 to 8m.
Philinopsis Pilsbryi spends most of its life time burrowed in the sand, but can be found crawling on sand, rocks or jcorals, probably when searching for food.
