Internal Anatomy
Systematic work has been based mostly on the description of the external morphology whereas data on the anatomy and internal shells remain poorly known for most species of opisthobranch, including the species Philinopsis Pilsbryi.
However, as part of the gastropods, some key characteristics has been describes. It is known that they have a elongate gut. They also have a highly developed sensory system that allow them to chase preys.
Several adaptations have been developped to burrowing: for example, a displacement of the mantle cavity to the right or the posterior end reduces the likelyhood of its being fouled with sediment during burrowing.
Studies about internal anatomy of Philinopsis Pilsbryi should be performed in order to fill the lack of knowledge in the domain. |
