Bioeographical Distribution

P. ocellatus can be found distributed widely across the tropical Indo-Pacific in waters up to 18m in depth, and temperature ranges of 23°C to 29°C. They are relatively abundant in the tropics, with decreasing population towards the poles (Jensen, 2007). They are more commonly distributed in exposed shallow intertidal reef flats of 1m depths (Hirose, 2005; Wagele, 2011; EOL, 2011).
