Crypsis

Observations on Heron Reef in Australia saw Cryptoplax larvaeformis residing in live and dead coral heads on the reefs crest. Their Colourisation provides substantial camouflage for the animal. Additive to their colouring they are able to maneuver themselves deep into the crevices and holes in coral heads.

In a study conducted by Austin and Austin (1980)
Cryptoplax larvaeformis was found in a faunal inventory conducted on the coral Pocillopora damicornis, located on the reef crest of Heron reef Australia, further validating these observations.
