Cyclicity

The majority of nudibranch species undergo simple annual life cycles with little or no generation overlap and total postspawning mortality. It is not know if J .funebris conforms to this general rule. All nudibranch species are semelparous, meaning an individual will have a single reproductive event before death, as opposed to many (Todd 1983). Interestingly, even if mate access and copulation are prevented, there seems to be no nudibranch species that can survive past their second year (e.g. Todd 1979).
