Cypraea annulus is an primarily an intertidal dweller but can also be found on eel grass flats in sand or sandy-mud, and in within pools on reef platforms. This species has patchy distributions with many parts of the intertidal totally lacking this species while they are very abundant in other parts. The can be found at depths up to 2m. Typically found in numbers in crevices, under rocks and coral rubble or exposed in hollows and small tide pools on the reef.
