Locomotion

Ventral side of C. annulus showing the large muscular foot.

The gold ring cowry uses waves of muscular contractions of it's foot to move. The soft and muscular foot is located on the ventral side of the animal and contains mucus glands which secret a mucus trail on which the animal can glide. This mucus can also be used as a defence and is secreted under stress. The foot is also used for attachment.
