Identification Resources

The eyestalks of E. sebana illuminate brightly if under torchlight; this makes for easy identification during night searches. The eyes are red in colour, and sit just outside the orbit cavity. Identify carapace as deep set, with a greater width than length. Dorsal carapace can be grey or dark brown in colour, and is smooth and hairless. The tips of the claws can be whitened, and the underside of the crab is generally a lighter colour. Main distinguishing features to identify with are the red eyes, the stocky build of the carapace and the colouration.
