Local Distribution and Habitats

Yellow-daubed Gymnodoris were found in lagoon zone during the day on Heron Island. All of found nudibranchs were crawling on the sand surface and none of them were seen on the living coral. According to Marshall & Willan (1999), they are the most abundant in low tidal zone and they are normally found crawling over sand, especially in the middle area of the reef flat. Like most Gymno doris sp ecies are sand dweller, they might be also sand burrower but sand dwelling behavior was not observed during collecting samples.
