MICRO-HABITATS AND ASSOCIATIONS

Throughout the day, H. edulis can be found hiding on or around coral boulders and rubble, presumably to minimise predation risks and to avoid potentially harmful UV exposure. Being a benthic detrital deposit feeder, H. edulis plays a significant role in nutrient turnover and bioturbation in coral reef ecosystems and is intimately associated with the benthic community [6].
