Biogeographical Distribution

As sea cucumbers are a commercially fished species, numerous data sets have been collected globally. In addition to this, studies of distribution and abundance have been conducted in tropical waters worldwide (Clark, 1921; Domantay,1954) . Information gathered from these experiments and data sets can help to map out a biogeographical distribution of this species. The current distribution for H. impatiens spans across more than 30 different locations, these include; ldabra, Belize, Caribbean Sea, Chagos, Colombia, Cuba, Djibouti, Eastern Africa & Madagascar, Greek Exclusive Economic Zone, Gulf of Mexico, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesser Antilles, Madagascar, Mascarene Basin, Mauritius, Mediterranean Sea, Mexico, Mozambique, Panama, Puerto Rico, Red Sea, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa (country), Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, West Indian Ocean (Vanden Berghe and Hansson 2011).
