Size:

Like all sea stars N.novaecaledoniae has pentradial symmetry. The star can be divided into 5 equal sections, unless it is regrowing a portion of it body. The arms of N. novaecaledoniae widens at the base to organically form into the central disc. 

The average sized adult N.novaecaledoniae will have an arm span of 8.67 cm, however can grow to have a 11cm are span. An arm span is measured from the tip of the arm to the middle point of the central disc.
