Threats

The elephant slug is fairly abundant throughout its distribution range and is not considered to be under threat. Although the elephant slug is in no immediate danger, a number of its populations exist within protected areas such as on Heron Island, on the Great Barrier Reef. These areas will ensure that the elephant slug will be able to continue to exist in areas with minimal human impact.
