Distribution

S. hermanni are widely distributed in Indo pacific region (Clarke and Rowe 1971). They are a common species of holothurians amongst lagoons and reefs. Most are described as an inner lagoon species, and the larger individuals are found here. Individuals which are smaller in size are generally found on the reef flat.   Conand (1993) found an average abundance of 50 individual sea cucumbers in New Caledonia.
