Sea cucumbers are fished heavily in some areas around the world. They are eaten mostly in asian cuisines. It is also known as trepan or bèche-der-mer. Sea cucumbers are a socioecomonically valuable resource in some areas around the world. It is estimated that 100kg of dried sea cucumbers are being collected per week over four villages in Madagascar (McVean et al. 2005).
