Size

Stichopus hermanni is described as a medium sized sea cucumber. It was found to have an average body length of 27cm at sexual maturity in a study completed in New Caledonia (Conand 1993). This is consistent with the S. hermanni located at Heron Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia.  S. hermanni were found to be an average of 8cm in length in Madagascar (McVean et al. 2005), which is significantly smaller than those found in New Caledonia and the Great Barrier Reef Australia.
