Size

S. luhuanus grows to an average length of 50mm but can grow up to 80mm long (Poutiers, 1998). They grow at rates dependant on their local habitat and reach maximum length at about two years of age, when maturity is reached (Catterall and Poiner, 1983). Populations have discrete size-age classes evident within them (Catterall and Poiner, 1983).
