Local Distribution and Habitats

Gastrolepidia clavigera are associated with the shallow water holothurians (Wells, Walker & Lethbridge, 1993). Thus, the scaleworm is only found in tropical shallow water. They could also be found in Heron Island, they are mostly found on the surface of several species of holothurians, including Stichopus chloronotus, Stichopus variegatus and Holothuria atra.
