The mitochondrial genome of Herdmania momus is readily available and linked below. Late 2012, however, the complete nuclear DNA genome is to be sequenced. The red-throated ascidian will be one of only two Great Barrier Reef invertebrates to have this honour, second to the demosponge Amphimedon queenslandica.
