Threats

Thuridilla bayeri is not listed under IUCN red list 2011. However, it is possible that as a result of climate, the species will disappear from some area such as Thailand, which is closer to the equator. The optimal temperature range for T. bayeri is 26.692 - 28.496 °C (EOL 2011). During the studies the water temperature on Heron Island was 22-23 °C. Therefore, it is evidenced that they can survived under lower temperature. However, climate change is increasing sea surface temperature. The maximum temperature that the species can tolerate is unknown, therefore, it is wise to conduct study to account for the temperature range which the organisms can tolerate.
