Biogeographical Distribution

 

H. leucospilota is predominantly found in the Indo-Pacific region (Conad, Morel & Mussard 1997) (see purple shaded area on the map below).  Other areas of general distribution include areas from the Red Sea to Hawaii, the eastern Pacific, tropical Indo-Pacific, tropical Indo-Malayan Region, Pacific Ocean and east Africa.  More specifically, they can be found off Australia, South East Arabia, the Persian Gulf, India, Pakistan, the Maldive area, Ceylon, the Bay of Bengal, East Indies, Philippines, China, South Japan, South Pacific Islands and Hawaiian Island (via WoRMS).
